The Canadian Soccer Association and Umbro Canada hosted a special evening in Toronto on 2 February with members of Canada’s National Teams, corporate partners and media to kick-off the 2012 season – the Association’s centennial year.
The Association, in conjunction with Umbro Canada, unveiled the new 2012 kits for Canada’s National Teams.
The new uniforms will be worn at London 2012 by Canada’s Women’s National Team and throughout the year’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers™ by Canada’s Men’s National Team.
"In this our Centennial year, the Canadian Soccer Association would like to congratulate Umbro on the launch of the official team kit for Canada's National Teams," said Peter Montopoli, Canadian Soccer Association General Secretary.
"The engagement of Canadian soccer supporters to define the look and feel of what Canada will wear on the pitch is another indication of the tremendous interest and pride that Canadians have for the beautiful game in this country.
“The schedule for our National Teams in 2012 will continue the momentum from CONCACAF Round 2 of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers™ and the recent success of the Women’s National Team in qualifying for London 2012.”
The new Men’s and Women’s uniforms will be debuted on back-to-back nights later this month in Cyprus.
The Women’s National Team will wear the new Umbro kits on 28 February when Canada takes on Scotland to open the 2012 Cyprus Women’s Cup in Larnaka, Cyprus.
The Men’s National Team will debut the 2012 uniforms the following night on 29 February during the team’s Men’s International Friendly against Armenia in Limassol, Cyprus.
