Edmonton, Ab. — Edmonton’s own professional soccer club, FC Edmonton, are kicking off the 10th annual Hair Massacure at Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta (RMHNA) in a big, bright way.
At 2pm on January 31st, FC Edmonton’s David Monsalve, and Kyle Yamada, along with front office staff Kelsie Myroniuk, Andreas Morse, Rob Fry and Dan Rosnau will be dying their hair pink at RMHNA to support three great children’s charities: Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta, the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation Pediatric Oncology, and Make-A-Wish, Northern Alberta.
The “pinked” FC Edmonton players will join over 1700 others at the West Edmonton Mall Ice Palace on February 3rd to shave their “pinked” heads. Over the last month, participants have been collecting pledges in an effort to surpass the record $1,050,000 million raised in 2011.
Hair Massacure is an annual event organized by the MacDonald family of Morinville. Daughter Kali MacDonald inspired the event during her battle with childhood cancer when she lost her hair three times during treatment. She has now been in remission for 8 years, and continues to be an inspiration.
