Langley FC and Langley Men’s Club Merge

Langley, BC – The Langley FC soccer club and the Langley United FC (Langley men’s soccer) are merging into one larger club to better serve the needs of male soccer athletes in Langley. The Langley FC club name will be retained for the merged clubs.

Langley FC, Langley’s most successful soccer club, continues to grow and succeed in many areas and the merger with Langley United FC further broadens the options for male soccer athletes in Langley and the Fraser Valley. The merger follows the recent announcement that Langley FC will now be offering a Youth Boys soccer program.

“We are very pleased to have the Langley United FC join with us as it adds more breadth and depth to the options we offer to our club members” commented Regan Mostat, VP, Soccer Operations for Langley FC. Mostat added, “like our female players, male players now have life-long options to play soccer at all ages and levels in one successful soccer club where they will receive a complete and high quality soccer experience.”

Langley United FC’s President, George Thrower, added “joining with the LFC will allow players to move seamlessly from youth to men’s soccer all within the same club and we are excited about the opportunities it presents players within our community.”

The addition of the LUFC men’s teams helps LFC complete its strategic goal of offering a “high quality, life-long soccer experience” for all female and male players of all ages and abilities. The LFC is the only soccer club in Langley to follow the Canadian Soccer Association club charter of offering life-long soccer opportunities for both females and males. The LFC compliment of programs now includes: girls and boys youth recreational and competitive programs, women’s and men’s teams, and the new BC Soccer Premier League franchise attained last year in partnership with the Abbotsford soccer club Magnuson Ford Mariners FC.

All Langley FC’s programs are based on the Canadian Soccer Association’s Long Term Player Development (LTPD) program that LFC already has in place, and also includes academy training, spring and summer programs, premier league options, provincial team training pathways, and university and national training centre opportunities and pathways.

Langley FC, formerly Langley Girls Soccer Association, is Langley’s most successful community soccer club offering a total soccer experience in recreational and competitive levels for all girls, boys, women and men of all ages and abilities. Langley United Football Club has been involved in men's soccer for almost 80 years and includes 13 teams and over 250 players and coaching staff in all divisions within the Fraser Valley Soccer League.
